IT IS HERE!! MY FIRST BEANIE PATTERN!

Sorry for the excitement, but I’ve been sitting on this design since December 2018. I originally wrote the Alivia Beanie for chunky (6) size yarn but didn’t enjoy the look at the top of the beanie. It just seemed to “holey” for me, not matter how many different decreases I did or didn’t do.

I put the design away, in hopes I’d find a better yarn. Fast forward to this year. I discover Premier Yarns Basix line. It’s a super affordable worsted weight yarn. Each skein comes with 359yds of beautiful, squishy yarn. It’s honestly so soft and the label states that it’s been “tested & approved against 350+ harmful substances”.

I still wanted the Alivia Beanie to be bulky and made a few beanies holding 2 strands of yarn together. While the look was what I wanted, the beanie seemed stiff. So, again, I put the design away.

BOOM. Three weeks ago, Premier Yarns announces new yarn: Basix Chunky (5 weight). I check out the website and fall in love with their color pallette. I ordered just a “few” skeins to test it out with my Alivia Beanie. It was love at first crochet. The Basix Chunky has 117yds of acrylic yarn.

This is the yarn I’ve been waiting for. This yarn was made for the Alivia Beanie. Today, you can make your own Alivia Beanie for FREEEEEEE.

It’s a crochet beanie made from the bottom-up, brim first. Using the Herringbone Half Double Crochet, the slanted design is just beautiful. I named this Beanie after my first born, Alivia and it’s as pretty as she is.
