Do you have a favorite movie or TV show?

No, not really

What’s a quote that you live by?

“ Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show”

Do you have other hobbies?

Traveling, Hiking,
skiing, swimming, fishing, hunting. Anything to do with the outdoors.

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve done in your life?

I live my life very spontaneously, but probably buying a fifth-wheel, selling 90% of what we owned and traveling fulltime. Really allowed for many spontaneous adventures.

Do you have a favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving, give me all the comfort food!

Do you have a favorite season?

What inspires or motivates you?

I know everyone says this but Nature. I spend a lot of
time outdoors and I am always inspired by the textures and colors nature has to
offer.

If you could do one thing for the world (people or environment), what would it be?

Reduce waste. All my packaging is compostable. My yarn labels are seed paper.

Anything else?

I am married to the most supportive man. We have 2 kids, 9 and 6. We used to travel fulltime for over 5 years. We live in a Aframe cabin in the Mountains. My husband still travels for works and a lot of times it is just me and the kids. We travel back and forth from Utah to California a lot.

All About Wild Sapling

How long have you been crocheting?

I taught myself
to knit when I was 15, then switched to crocheting about 10 years ago.

When did you start Wild Sapling?

I started selling handmade items back in 2014-15, took a break when we started traveling and then got back into it in 2018 when I released my first crochet design.

Why did you start?

I started selling finished items when my kids were little just to make some extra money, then I took a break and didn’t crochet much from 2015 (when we started traveling) to 2018. I struggled with Lyme disease, which we didn’t know that’s what it was for almost 2 years, they thought I had MS. But crochet
became a therapy for me and got me through some really rough days and a long treatment, once we found out it was Lyme.

What’s your favorite thing you’ve made?

I think it would have to be the sweater pattern
I designed this winter that I am still working on the pattern for, or the tank top
pattern that is set to release this summer.

What’s a piece of advice for someone just starting out in your field?

Just start! And be yourself! Don’t try to be like anyone else, do what feels right to you and what makes you happy. If something brings you joy and passion, pursue it!

Does your company have a mascot?

Not a mascot, just a little tree.

What was your most memorable success?

I did a 10For $10 on 10/10/2019 , I made
over $900 in 2 hours on just patterns. I was blown away!

What was your most memorable challenge?

I constantly am challenged by my inability
to focus. I have so many ideas and I tend to jump around which leads to not being very productive.

How did or are you overcoming this challenge?

I am trying to be better about completing one thing before moving on to the next but also embracing the fact that it is just how my creative brain works.

What’s next for Wild Sapling?

More crochet garment designs and a Wild
Sapling Signature collection of yarn. 10-12 colorways that are available each time I have a shop update.

The Future for Wild Sapling

What’s your latest project?

My latest project is my hand spun yarn kits that came with
a crochet and knit pattern.

Where did the inspiration come from for this project?

Learning how to spin yarn and wanting to make a ton of yarn but not knowing what to do with it afterwards. The
headbands are fun, chunky and bubbly

Have there been any challenges with this project?

Time. It takes a lot of time to dye the fiber, and then spin the fiber. I didn’t make much from the kits, it was more of a fun creative project.

Will this be free or paid?

This was paid.

Where can we find this project when it’s finished ?
Wildsapling.com. I will have more hand spun yarn soon!

When will it be finished?

I just did the first batch of them and hope to have another batch within the next month.
