Let's give a warm welcome to Beth, owner of Twist & Loop Studio!

All About Beth

Where are you from?

Cleveland, OH

Do you have a job outside of this?

Yes, as an architect – I love it, and I love that the design mindset is useful in just about every aspect of my life.

What’s your dream vacation spot?

Iceland or somewhere else we can see the Northern Lights

What’s your favorite color?

Yellow

What’s your favorite food/meal?

 Raspberry pear pie

Do you have a favorite movie or TV show?

The Great British Baking Show

What’s a quote that you live by?

“Questions permeate every aspect of our world and our life. Life is all about questions. If you stop
asking, you stop living.” ― Louis Kahn

Do you have other hobbies other than crochet?

Reading and sketching

If you had a theme song, WHAT would it be?

Right now I’m digging Let’s Never Stop Falling in Love (Pink Martini)

Do you have a favorite holiday?

Pajama Day (the day after Christmas – no one comes over, no one leaves, and everyone stays cozy in
jammies all day)

Do you have a favorite season?

Spring and Fall are tied here, I think

What inspires or motivates you?

My little family

If you could do one thing for the world (people or environment), what would it be?

How long have you been crocheting?

Since about first grade, though I took a break for a while and picked it back up in grad school

When did you start your business or hobby?

My second year of grad school – 2017

Why did you start?

It honestly started as just a second Instagram account to follow all things yarny, and it’s such a positive community it’s hard not to get drawn in a little further than browsing

What’s your favorite thing you’ve made?

My daughters’ baby blankets

What’s a piece of advice for someone just starting out in your field?

Just do it, and don’t be afraid to ask other makers for help and advice!

What was your most memorable success?

Publishing a pattern and seeing people actually want it enough to pay for it

What was your most memorable challenge?

Realizing I will never have time to make or design everything I would like to, and learning to strategize and prioritize

How did or are you overcoming this challenge?

Writing down everything with time estimates so that I can plan based on the time I actually have rather than what I wish I could do

What’s next for your business (the future)?

More patterns! I’m currently obsessed with the granite stitch, so that will certainly be a part of any upcoming designs.

Beth was one of my awesome testers for my String of Pearls pattern! She did a wonderful job helping me edit the pattern.

The Future for Twist & Loop Studio

The Granite Gourd! The texture on this crochet pumpkin is amazing. (Click on the photo to purchase the pattern)

What’s your latest project?

The Granite Gourd crochet pattern

Where did the inspiration come from for the Granite Gourd?

Finishing can be a struggle for me – I wanted a pumpkin that was done as soon as you cinched it closed, not one that needed more steps to finish, but I also wanted those nice pumpkin ridges.

Have there been any challenges with this project?

Of course! But what fun is a project without a few challenges?

Will this be free or paid?

Paid, but half off on Ravelry/Etsy/Threadfolio through today

Where can we find The Granite Gourd when it’s finished ?

Ravelry/Etsy/Threadfolio

When will it be finished?

Released Thursday
