I have so many.. My husband and I love japan and have been a few times but I would love to go to several places in Europe and other places in Asia

What’s your favorite color(s)?

Mustard yellow is my all time favorite

Laotian homemade chicken noodle soup (Kao Piek Sen) It’s so delicious!

What’s your least favorite food/meal?

Do you have a favorite movie or TV show?

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite but I love watching all things Bachelor to decompress and I’m a fan of rom-coms, comedies, Avengers and movies in that genre

What’s a quote that you live by?

“All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us”

Do you have other hobbies besides embroidery?

I love taking photos but I’ve never pursued it as a serious hobby. Traveling and eating is a huge hobby my life.

What’s 1 (or more) weird/strange fact(s) about you?

I love to travel but HATE flying. Not sure if its weird or strange (ask my husband) but I LOVE plants. Like they are pets to me. lol

If you had a theme song, WHAT would it be?

Not sure about this lol

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve done in your life?

I’m not a super spontaneous person, I love to plan things, but taking a last minute trip (planned within a few weeks haha) with my husband would probably be the most spontaneous.

Do you have a favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love the décor and spending time with family and all the food.

Do you have a favorite season?

Fall for sure. Sweaters and hot drinks are the best.

What inspires or motivates you?

My daughter. I feel like I’ve become the person I was meant to be after having her.

If you could do one thing for the world (people or environment), what would it be?

I think right now, ending all the hate in people’s hearts is something I wish I had the power to do.

Anything else?

I have been with my husband for almost 10 years, married 5. We have a beautiful 3 year old daughter who I stay home with. We also have two dogs. My husband and I opened a Japanese restaurant here in OKC 4 years ago. We opened another a year ago but with Covid, we had to close it. We love traveling and try to get on a plane to go somewhere at least 4+ times a year. I use DMC threads and love their silkiness.

All about Rea Embroidery Co.

How long have you been doing embroidery?

It has been 2 years

When did you start Rea Embroidery Co?

October 2018 I took an embroidery class and never stopped stitching.

Why did you start?

After I became a mother, I kind of lost who I was. I became someone new and it was a difficult transition. When my daughter was a year old, I decided it was time to find something for me to enjoy that was entirely mine. A friend of mine was co-hosting an embroidery class and I thought “why not?”. I don’t like risks, and spending money on something I may not like or be good at was a jump for me, especially since I never saw myself as a creative type. This class was the best decision I could’ve made. I found a creative outlet that not only I loved, but that was incredibly therapeutic. My daughter even likes to join in and create her own now with me.

What’s your favorite thing you’ve made?

I have so many favorites! Family portraits and any of my floral/plant hoops are always on my list.

What’s a piece of advice for someone just starting out in your field?

It’s a learning process. You learn tricks that work for you as you create more and more.

Does your company have a mascot?

No mascot

What was your most memorable success?

I think when I had to turn customers away around the holidays due to so many orders, I was like, “Wow, people really like my stuff. This is awesome”

What was your most memorable challenge?

I think every hoop has its own challenge. Ones that are to represent a lost loved one are the ones I “stress” about the most. I always worry it won’t be perfect enough for them and I want it to be so special.

How did or are you overcoming this challenge?

I walk through the entire process with the customer and then have to reassure myself that they have seen my work and love it for what it is.

What’s next for Rea Embroidery Co?

Keep doing what I’m doing! I want to just continue to stitch and teach my daughter. I want her to have a therapeutic outlet, just like her mama.

This is soo creepy but AMAZING.

The Future for Rea Embroidery Co.

Handwriting hoops are the perfect gift.

What’s your latest project?

I have a few! A couple florals, anniversary gifts, wedding portrait, baby announcement, and I’m already getting christmas orders!

Where did the inspiration come from for this project?

Most all my projects are commission and I go off what the client wants. I am pretty open to trying any design.

Have there been any challenges with this project?

Any new design (which is almost every hoop) is a challenge!
